Trivia Question❓

Okmulgee, Oklahoma is known for being the "oil capital of the world" during the early 20th century. What was the name of the famous oil baron who played a major role in the city's oil boom?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Boom-A-Rang Diner is a beloved spot in Okmulgee, serving up classic American fare with a nostalgic, 50s-style charm that feels like coming home.

Known for their delicious burgers and all-day breakfast, it's a place where neighbors can gather for a satisfying meal in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're craving a stack of pancakes for dinner or a perfectly cooked cheeseburger for lunch, their menu has something for the whole family. This spotlight is presented by Boom-A-Rang Diner. As a dedicated Oklahoma-based restaurant, they are proud to be a part of our local community. For a taste of timeless comfort food, you can check out their menu and stop by for a visit!

He doubles back on walks... just to check on you.

That's Roscoe. An almost 6-month-old Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix who is basically the definition of loyal.

He's playful. He's sweet. He loves being right there in your world.

And right now, he's at the Okmulgee Humane Society waiting for his forever home.

The good news? He's ready to go. He's already been vetted, vaccinated, and neutered. He's good with kids and other dogs.

And he comes with zero drama and a whole lot of heart.

He's medium-sized with a gorgeous cream and apricot coat, still in his puppy phase (so yes, you'd get to watch him grow), and he has absolutely no special needs. Just needs someone to call home.

If you've been thinking about adopting, or you know someone who's been on the fence... this might be the sign.

Applications and meet and greets are handled right through the Okmulgee Humane Society. Monday through Friday, 10 am to 1 pm, or reach out at hello@okmulgeehumane.org.

Somewhere over the Pacific, a sailor from Okmulgee is keeping a multi-million dollar aircraft mission-ready.

His name is Lakota Lancaster. Preston High School class of 2021.

And right now he's maintaining the radar and sensor systems on one of the most advanced patrol aircraft in the U.S. Navy... in seven countries and counting.

But this story isn't really about an aircraft.

It's about that voice. You know the one. The one that follows every small-town kid and whispers you're not going anywhere.

Lakota Lancaster heard it too. This week on The Okmulgee Spotlight, we're telling his full story. And the part that hit us hardest... he didn't leave Okmulgee behind. He took it with him.
